I love what they did and how it's all presented. It must have been heart wrenching to watch the smoke from the tumbling twin towers from that point of the island...no wonder it was the perfect spot to set up the memorial. As always, loved your pictures and history lesson:-) I'm telling you, one of these days I'll make it to Connecticut and see all that for myself!! xoxoPEAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05497329055251626140[email protected]tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3155561230950644188.post-78618317320172387722012-01-16T11:46:41.794-05:002012-01-16T11:46:41.794-05:00Your description of the tree, with its branch reac...Your description of the tree, with its branch reaching toward NY, is very moving. I've been to the Trade Center site twice now. I've also been to a couple of memorials to the victims. I like peacefulness of the memorial, the hope of the metal flowers, re-blooming in a positive way, and the depiction of great loss (which it was) by making a memorial that isn't towering and huge... Reminds us of the empty spots we feel when loved ones are lost. Empty spaces.Jeanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15896800216435689040[email protected]tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3155561230950644188.post-61948068983255379722012-01-15T10:17:20.399-05:002012-01-15T10:17:20.399-05:00Truly a great post. It must have taken hours and hours.
I loved reading about the history of Fairfield and Westport, and the Native Americans who lived here first.

Fantastic! I had a great time that day.
So...where are we headed next?

Odd that the memorial space was designed by someone named "Towers."Pattihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04418107045479403480[email protected]tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3155561230950644188.post-37956847255268027382012-01-15T07:30:25.372-05:002012-01-15T07:30:25.372-05:00GREAT post, Linda. I think of this young man so very often . . . May you know that you will never be forgotten . . .
