I'd have to say that it's probably Cohill's Inn though there may be another bar there in Lubec that's geographically more eastern than Cohill's is. Maybe the Water Street Inn is a bit further east? I'll have to see if I can find that out for you!

Actually, Lubec hosts two chocalatiers...one from Peru, and one a native-Lubecer who is also a Lobsterman (and through whom you can order fresh-from-the-sea lobsters at a great price.) See www.baysidechocolates.com

Too bad that pictures of Lubec's two B&B's were not included. The author stayed at at the Peachock House; the other is The Home Port Inn...both are beautifully appointed and the hosts, lovely. See www.visitlubecmaine.com for all kinds of info.

Yes the Clutter Shop, opened Summer 2012, is a delight. Sherry has a wonderful sense of style and offers period collectibles, some antiques, vintage clothing, great vintage jewelry. Her prices are very fair; her inventory changes regularly. Most certainly worth the stop!

I definitely would love to go back up for some Puffin watching and to take a walk on some of the trails around West Quoddy Light. If we'd had more time, the Water Street Tavern looked like it could be a lot of fun to stop in at. Next time for sure!

Don't overlook the miles and miles of pristine hiking trails in the surrounding area, the opportunities for kayaking, the fantastic birdwatching and whale/seal/etc viewing opportunities. This area is an outdoors person's dream. Also, my personal favorite dining is the Water Stree Tavern (just across the road from Cohills, which is indeed a wonderful spot)

FDR did, in fact, walk down Water Street in Lubec. You had go down Water Street to catch the ferry to Campobello Island before the bridge was built in 1960.

I was thinking about that myself when I first read the sign but I think he might have actually walked there at one time as the house on Campobello Island was owned by his family and he went there as a child plus, he would have stayed there as President before he had polio and could - in fact - have walked through Lubec.

That looks like a fun town. I love it when a town totally gets into visitors and everyone is friendly and open. Looks like there's lots to do there.
